LG Fridge Er FF and Er dH Errors: What They Mean
LG refrigerators display errors as "Er" followed by two letters. Each code points to one system, which makes LG fridges quicker to diagnose than many other brands.

Er FF: Freezer Fan
The freezer fan is not running. In most cases ice has formed around the blade because the defrost system failed; occasionally the fan motor itself has burned out. Clearing the ice without fixing the defrost fault means Er FF returns within days.
Er dH: Defrost Heater
The defrost heater circuit has failed: the heater, the defrost sensor or the thermal fuse. Without defrosting, ice builds on the evaporator and cooling drops, starting in the fridge section.
Er IF: Ice Maker Fan
On models with an ice maker in the fridge door, a small fan cools the ice compartment. Er IF usually means ice has blocked it, often because the ice room door seal is not closing tightly.
Er rS and Er FS: Temperature Sensors
Er rS is the fridge sensor; Er FS the freezer sensor. The sensor has failed or its wiring is damaged. It is a quick replacement.
Er CO: Communication Error
The door display cannot talk to the main board. The wiring runs through the top door hinge, where years of opening can break a wire. A failed display or main board are the other causes.
What About the Linear Compressor?
